About Jennifer

My husband Scott and I enjoy living in Sudbury with our three children who attend the Sudbury Public Schools.  We moved to Sudbury for the excellent schools, open space and historic character, and many commercial and recreational amenities.  My professional and educational experiences are focused on business, finance, marketing, strategic planning, and sustainability. Currently, I am Director of Marketing for a regional Financial Planning and Investment Management firm. I have spent eighteen years in the Financial Services and Telecommunications sectors. I have a BA in Government and Legal Studies from Bowdoin College and an MBA in Customer/Product Management and Sustainable Enterprise from UNC-Chapel Hill.

I have always had a deep commitment to public service and volunteering.  While in Sudbury, I have dedicated significant time to a variety of committees and local groups to make our community better.

Sudbury Select Board:  I was elected to the Select Board in 2019 and currently serve as Board Chair after serving as Vice-Chair in 2020.  I have been extensively involved in key projects including the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail, Fairbank Community Center, Financial Policies development, and Sustainability initiatives.  I bring a results-oriented, collegial, and measured style while always carefully considering the viewpoints of others.  I am immensely proud of everything the Select Board and I have achieved. Together, with the Town Manager and the Health Department, we have navigated the challenging Covid-19 pandemic environment to help protect the health and safety of our community.

Community Preservation Committee:  I serve as the Select Board representative member to the Community Preservation Committee, the Town committee appointed to carry out the duties of the Community Preservation Act.  These responsibilities include overseeing the CPA funds and making decisions on project submissions that preserve open space and historical assets and enhance recreation and affordable housing. The CPC projects then move to Town Meeting each year for final vote by town citizens.

Sudbury Master Plan Steering Committee:  Prior to being elected to the Select Board in 2019, I served as Co-Vice Chair of the Master Plan Steering Committee, tasked with mapping Sudbury’s future across a variety of topics, including services, housing, transportation, open space, economic development and more.  This experience gave me a broad overview of Sudbury’s history, assets, challenges, and opportunities which I apply every day to my work on the Select Board.

Sudbury United Methodist Church Social Justice Commission:  I am Co-Chair of this commission at my place of worship, which focuses on educating the church and broader community about issues related to racial injustice, LGBTQIA inequality, economic disparities, and climate change/environmental challenges.  I especially enjoy engaging with the youth of the congregation in social justice education and solution seeking.

Sudbury Family Network Sponsorship Coordinator:  In this role, I served as the liaison between Sudbury’s business and service community and the Family Network. I recruited sponsors to help fund the group’s activities, while providing these sponsors marketing access to members.

While on the Select Board, I have served as liaison to the following groups, regularly attending meetings, sharing information, and learning about the issues and opportunities before them:

  • Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Commission

  • Commission on Disability

  • Finance Committee

  • Council on Aging

  • Board of Health

  • Housing Authority

  • Park & Recreation Commission

  • Chamber of Commerce

  • Town Historian

  • Town Manager, Departments

  • Town Moderator

On a personal note, I am an avid distance runner and former collegiate all-New England cross-country and track athlete, experiences which have instilled in me endurance and resilience in many facets of my life.  I love the outdoors and have a soft spot for returning to the serenity and beauty of my native Maine.  I enjoy travel and adventures with my husband and children throughout New England and beyond.

 Experience. Leadership. Results.
